In a world where more and more people are driving hybrids to both save on gas and be more environmentally friendly, many people ask why they should have to surrender on the luxury they enjoy in a new car just to be more environmentally friendly. Well, thanks to companies like Lexus, Porsche, Cadillac, and Mercedes you don’t have to. But, by keeping the luxury that many desire are they sacrificing what makes the hybrid truly worth it?

Fuel Efficiency vs. Cost of the Vehicle

One of the biggest draws of a hybrid is that with the money you save on gas will quickly off-set the difference between a hybrid and a traditionally powered vehicle. Then after the first few years, you hope to pocket the savings. With a car like the Toyota Prius that sells for less than $30,000, the difference seems easy to see and could justify spending the extra on the car. But what about a $50,000 car? What if you’re spending closer to $100,000? At a certain point, the amount of money you’ll save on gas might not off-set the amount you’re spending on the car.

Granted, anybody who can afford a $100,000 car probably isn’t concerned with off-setting the cost of the car by spending less on gas. Whereas a Toyota Prius can get close to 50 miles per gallon, many of these luxury hybrids get less than 40 miles per gallon. The real comparison, obviously, must be to other luxury vehicles of like size. The Cadillac Escalade Hybrid is rated over 5 miles per gallon better than the traditional gas Escalade. So even with large luxury vehicles, the mileage difference can make up the cost difference given enough time and miles.

Reduced Emissions

While many buy hybrids for the money they save on gas, others buy hybrids simply for their environmentally friendly nature. In this area, luxury hybrids can still justify their cost. Regardless of whether they get the same fuel efficiency as some of the more traditional hybrids, luxury hybrids still have fewer emissions than their non-hybrid cousins. Those who are willing to spend the money to purchase a luxury hybrid can still feel good about helping the environment by reducing the amount of emissions being released by their vehicle.

Is It Worth It?

In the end, the only person that can determine whether or not a luxury hybrid is worth the extra cost is the person buying it. While it won’t be as fuel efficient as small hybids, and you my not be able to off-set the total cost of the vehicle with your gas savings, the ability to help the environment by reducing emissions is all many people really want. Either way, there’s never anything wrong with purchasing any type of hybrid, and if you can afford a luxury hybrid, there’s no reason you can’t have all the amenities of a luxury car and cut back on gas and emissions at the same time.

Travel can be exciting and interesting, but it’s the little things that matter - like where you’re going to sleep for the night, where to eat and how to get to where you’re going. These are all concerns that travelers tend to have and choosing the right hotel is a huge factor in how much you’ll enjoy your trip to Toronto. Hotels can literally make or break your trip, whether you’re in town for business or pleasure.

Toronto hotels are many and the price ranges vary drastically, depending on what level of luxury you want. While price is not the only thing to consider when choosing a hotel, it is certainly a factor for most people. Here are some other things to think about when searching for a place to lay your head.

Location

You’ll want your hotel to be conveniently located, if possible. This makes it easier to get around. If you’re attending a conference, for example, getting a room within the same hotel is best, but anything nearby will be good, as well. Some places further off the beaten path may charge less, but remember that you’ll need to factor in transit times, car rental or taxi costs.

Service

There really is nothing worse than bad service at a hotel. When you need an extra blanket or more fresh towels, it’s important that these be provided. A good hotel will offer quality service, no matter what price range they’re in. Also take into consideration any extra features you’ll need, like room service or internet access in your room.

Size

How big are the rooms? You’ll find that some Toronto hotels are barely habitable because of the size. Unless you are really on a tight budget, there’s no need to cram into a matchbox sized room. Adjoining rooms are also a good idea if you have children, but want to keep two separate rooms.

Cost

This is part of price, but you need to look at the cost per person. Some hotels allow you to have just one or two people per bed, while others are fine if you want to cram a few more in. This all works out to a cost per person.

Upgrades

Using membership cards, either from a hotel chain or American Express can sometimes get you a nice upgrade, so check for hotels that let you do this. It will really make a difference in your trip.

Features

Are there special features you would like to have included? These might include a pool, spa, or just a nice place to sit outside and read. Different hotels have different levels of features, some might be very basic, while others will include everything from a spa to waterslides for the kids.

Choosing a hotel is a very personal choice. Your own preferences and budget will determine what sort of Toronto hotel you’ll want. If you are traveling alone, you might not need as many amenities, but with your family, you could opt for something a bit more entertaining than a plain hotel.

Toronto hotels have options for everyone. Keep in mind that hotels near major attractions will tend to be higher priced than those away from the action, but don’t forget to factor in the per person cost and transportation, as well. It might be worth getting a room nearer certain attractions if you can save on the rental car cost. With a little research, you’ll be ready to start making reservations and booking your trip.

Experience Toronto’s unique cultural diversity and charm at Toronto hotels. With so many to choose from there’s a special place for every kind of traveler whether you are on business or holiday. Choose from Toronto Harbourfront hotels or one of many downtown hotels.

I am looking to rent a luxury villa on the Cote d’Azur and I have been suggested Beaulieu, St Jean Cap Ferrat, and Villefranche. I have done some research about the areas, and the possibilities regarding rental villas in these Cote d’Azur Villages.

When looking for a rental villa on the Cote D’Azur it is hard to know where to start looking. There are so many fantastic little villages and the choice of villa is rather large. So I selected 3 villages which my friends had said were very good. These were Beaulieu, St Jean Cap Ferrat, and Villefranche.

Beaulieu-sur-mer, St Jean Cap Ferrat and Villefranche are very close to each other, and are to the eastern side of Nice and to the west of Monaco, with good links to the international airport and the train station where the high speed train comes from Paris, Marseille, and Lyon. These French towns and villages are in the Alps Maritimes department and have a large selection of the elite villas to let on the French Riviera.

Beaulieu-sur-mer has been very popular destination for the rich and famous, and there is a certain kudos of renting a villa in Beaulieu. Beaulieu is a wealthy resort owing mainly to its port where luxury yachts park up during the summer months. With ocean views from your villa, and proximity to Beaulieu’s little cafes and restaurants which you can find on the little marina, the town it is a great place for a family holiday on the Cote D’Azur. Beaulieu has a great climate, because the mountains behind Beaulieu protecting the town from the Mistrale winds which affect most of the Cote D’Azur. As a result villa rental during the winter months has become increasingly popular. Villas in Beaulieu have stunning Mediterranean gardens with stately palm trees, the acacia trees with their yellow mimosa flowers along with spiky yuccas, and phormiums alongside the Cypress and olive trees. Beaulieu has history, and was home to the Romans, however there in no ‘old town’ as such. Holiday makers come bursting into the main square backed by the hills behind the town spotted with luxury villas. There is a nice sandy beach near the town centre.

Only 2km down from Beaulieu, St Jean Cap Ferrat is the luxury promontory which stretches out into the Mediterranean sea in between Bealieu and Villefranche. Now if Beaulieu is well to do, St Jean Cap Ferrat is a honey pot for the planet’s millionaires. Villas in St Jean Cap Ferrat are beautiful stately homes with pools shrouded in trees and lush colourful plants, overlooking the sparkling water of the Med, and the prestigious yachts which moor up outside Beaulieu. There a private beaches spotted along St Paul Cap Ferrat and the magnificent Cote D’azur climate makes it a super holiday spot summer or winter. Walking along the peninsula with views over the boats below is a daily routine when renting a villa in St Jean Cap Ferrat, and there is some of the most delightful French cuisine served at the group of restaurants at the marina. If you have come to sunbathe, then the three protected beaches of Paloma, Passable, and Pei Pen are perfect day trip. A people watching place St Jean Cap Ferrat is a place to melange with the rich and famous.

Villefranche has a spectacular setting on the eastern side of the prestigious golden triangle. Renting a villa in Villefranche is more than worthwhile, and the village or small town is the perfect place to come on vacation. The lovely little restaurants in courtyards or out on the cobbled streets make for relaxing evenings out when you venture from your Villefranche villa. There is a superb public sandy beach at Villefranche which is ideal for total relaxation snorkelling and swimming. Beaches in Nice have pebbles, so it is nice to have sand in between your toes. You are very close to Nice so get the advantages of being close to the airport and train station, and shopping, but being by the sea away from all the hustle and bustle.

I suppose depending on what sort of person you are will depend where you rent your luxury villa on the Cote D

There are two kind of mobility scooters, the ones you use for every distance you would normally travel by foot or bicycle and the ones you take with you when you go somewhere by car and need to be mobile at your destination. The last ones are called folding mobility scooters and they are a wonderful addition to the one you can use everyday.

Such a scooter is really a godsend if you have problems with your mobility. When simple things, like going to the mall or taking a small walk in your own neighborhood, have become difficult you might get the feeling you are imprisoned in your own home. With a mobility scooter there is no reason to stay at home any more, it can give you back your freedom to go where you want. It is also great for an elderly couple when one of them is more mobile then the other. To keep an active life together a mobility scooter is a great option.

But a normal mobility scooter also has a downside. When you want to go a bit further then your own neighborhood, for instance by car, then you also would like to be mobile when you arrive at your destination. You are so used to being independent that stumbling around or being pushed inside a wheelchair has become your worst nightmare. You would like to bring your mobility scooter with you in the car, or otherwise you stay at home. A normal mobility scooter will not fit in a normal car, so for this purpose there are folding mobility scooters available. This way you can stay independent and be mobile anywhere you like. Folding mobility scooters are easy to operate, they are safe and prevent you from getting isolated.

Folding mobility scooters are perfect for outdoor and indoor use

Normal mobility scooters are often to big to use indoors, but because the folding mobility scooters are made to fit in a small storage space they are smaller and this means they are also a good option to use indoors to “walk” between rooms because this type is much easier to maneuver around indoor corners. It is folds in to a very handy package and it does not take up much storage space if you live in a small space.

For outdoor use folding mobility scooters are perfect to take with you in a car, they are very easy to fold away in the trunk.

Folding mobility scooters are not practical for rugged terrain.

All the advantages folding mobility scooters have: lightweight, small, folding, become disadvantages when you need to drive it on rugged terrain or go for long distances. This means you need to think carefully about the way you think you are going to use your mobility scooter and make a proper choice accordingly. A bigger model can’t be folded but will have more power, larger batteries and is able to withstand rugged terrain and weather. They are also faster, larger and heavier so it might take you more time to get adjusted to it and you might need some more time to practice.

Great tip

There are very cheap 3 wheel travel scooters available these are not sold under the term folding scooters but they are in fact easy to assemble and they will fit in a car. If you do some research it might be an option to buy both a heavy duty mobility scooter and buy one of the small cheap folding mobility scooters at the same time. This will give you the freedom of both worlds.

Seven Tips to Buying an Equipment, Auto, Dump, or Utility Trailer

Looking for the right trailer for your needs can be tough, but following these simple tips will help assure that your next trailer will not only meet your needs, but also be affordable and long-lasting.

1. Have a clear understanding of what your intending to haul - Make sure you know the weight as well as the length and width of what your intending to haul. The weight is imperative because trailers are rated in terms of GVWR (or gross vehicle rate ratio). This simply means that the weight of what your hauling + the weight of the trailer needs to be less than the GVWR the trailer is rated. When you consider what your hauling be sure to include options with the equipment your hauling, such as different buckets, etc.

The width of your equipment is important because usually equipment trailers are manufacturered with 1 of 2 types of deck styles; a deckover and low profile (lowboy). A deckover trailer has the bed of the trailer built above the wheels while a low profile has the bed manufacturered between the wheels.

The maximum width an equipment trailer can be safely manufacturered at is 102″ (legal tolerences), so the deck can be much wider on a deckover while a low profile deck is narrower but is built lower to the ground for easier loading/unloading plus the low deck height makes for a more stable load.

The usual width for a low profile deck is somewhere between 77″ and 83″. Then the fenders use the remaining 102″ width and of course, the deckover is built at 102″ for optimal use of available space.

2. How are you going to haul your trailer? Different trucks have different towing capacities. To towing capacity for your truck is usually included in the documentation when you purchase a truck, but if your using an older truck, call the manufacturer to find out what your towing capacity is. When calling be sure to let them know if you have a towing package and what size engine you have.

3. Look for Factory-Direct Manufacturers- There are two basic ways to purchase a new trailer: A dealer or the manufacturer. The dealer is a person who purchases equipment trailers at a discounted rate, then marks the price up and sells them. Depending on the dealer you may be paying a lot more for the trailer and you essentially have to trust the dealer to charge a fair price.

Factory-Direct means you buy the trailer straight from the manufacturer, which eliminates the middle man, and can save you money. The only problem with finding a good equipment trailer factory-direct resource is some claim to be factory-direct, but in fact, are still a dealer.

A few recommended Factory-Direct Manufacturers are www.kaufmantrailers.com and www.appalachiantrailers.com.

4. Radial Tires - Get radial tires if possible. They may cost a little more but they are worth the cost. There are some trailer manufacturers to claim bias is better, but simply put bias tires are a cheaper grade tire.

5. Look for Standard Options - A common ploy by equipment trailer manufacturers is to offer a cheap price, but not include features such as a lockable toolbox. By the time their adding in all the options that are standard on their competitors trailers, they are much more expensive. This again, is why I got back to Kaufman and Appalachian Trailers. Their products include all the good options you would want as standard option.

6. Never Trust the Trailer Dealer or Manufacturer to do the Work for You - I know its easier to call and ask the dealer to put together a quote for you, but if you don’t research your truck’s towing capacities and verify your equipments weight, length and width, you could end up buying more trailer than you need or worse, less than you need.

7. Compare “Apples to Apples” - Sometimes manufacturers will use cheaper tires, suspension or wood decking to make their equipment trailers seem like a better deal. Make sure to compare the following for similar quality:

* Suspension - Slipper spring is better than double eye.

* Tires - Radial tires are better

* Decking - treated hard woods are better

* Hitch - I personally recommend an adjustable couple. Fixed couplers can be troublesome.

* GVWR - Make sure the rating is what you need.

* Options are similar

* Jacks - Drop Foot better than top wind

* Fenders - fenders are a big problem and some collapse very easy. Fenders are best made with Channel or diamond plate.

* Welding - Make sure the welding is strong. Some manufacturers don’t regulate this enough.

* Frame - Make sure the frame is made from similar size steel.
